about

Although there were a few experiments in between, Duna is really the second Peter Wright album proper after LP (peterwright.bandcamp.com/album/lp). It signified a few 'firsts' too: It was the first PW album to see a release on an overseas label - Last Visible Dog - and the first one to contain a recording of a live solo performance. The performance in question was another first - the first solo show I had played outside of my hometown of Christchurch and about my third ever solo performance at that stage.

Duna was named after the Old Norse word for 'thunderous noise', not because the album was especially noisy, thunderous or even remotely Scandinavian, but simply because there was a copy of E.V. Gordon's 'Introduction to Old Norse' in the house where the word was randomly discovered in a moment of serendipity. Plus it sounded somewhat evocative.

The original Last Visible Dog CDr is long out of print and the reissued version on the triple LVD CD set was missing the long live track, so this is the first time the full original album has been available since the early '00s.
