Once We Were Beautiful has had a long gestation - 18 years to be exact. The recordings themselves date from 2001-2003. The first version I created was originally designed to be a solo companion piece to The Beautiful Losers 2003 double CD released by kRkRkRk, but I wasn't happy with the results at the time and subsequently abandoned the idea. Some tracks appeared on various collections or compilations, but most of it was left to gather digital dust in the archives.

I had another attempt at putting a similar album together when the reworked Beautiful Losers album First To The Sun was released in 2012, but again without any success. After I stumbled across that rough version while trawling the archives during the lockdown in 2020 I decided it might be worth having one more go. In the end it was quite simple. A few tweaks and remixes later, and this is the end result - finally.

Given the years of dithering with this thing, that it's taken another 12 months to actually get around to issuing it seems appropriate.
